What is child endangerment?

When a person exposes any child under the age of fifteen to a situation that may cause them death or serious physical harm, they are liable to be charged with child endangerment. Along with the abovementioned cases, child endangerment can also include acts such as abandoning a child, leaving them unattended inside a vehicle on a hot day, or driving without having them wear a seatbelt. When a person is pulled over and arrested for DWI and there was a child in the car, they will most likely be charged with endangering a child, as well. In Texas, child endangerment is a felony and will be punished accordingly.

A felony can fall under five different classifications: state jail, third-degree, second-degree, first-degree, and capital.
